Late Dr. Kauromal M. Chandiramani holds the world record for being the oldest working general practitioner. Having practiced medicine for over 75 years, he is our inspiration in the service we offer. This clinic was earlier well known as a small community hospital or nursing home by the name of “Devi Maternity and Surgical Hospital''. The clinic was run for over half a century (1959 – 2018) by Dr. A. K Chandiramani an eminent general surgeon and his wife Dr. Devi Chandiramani gynecologist and obstetrician. In this clinic, routine general surgical operations were performed for the community and hundreds of babies were born in the hands of Dr. A.K Chandiramani and Dr. Devi Chandiramani. Those were the days before corporate and multi-disciplinary hospitals such as the new Hinduja hospital or Lilavati hospital existed. At that time small family run hospitals were the backbone and mainstay of health care delivery.

Dr. Vinod completed his higher surgical training at renowned hospitals in the United Kingdom prior to joining P.D Hinduja Hospital in Mahim, where he has headed the department of general surgery for over two decades. With over 35 years of experience, he specialises in laparoscopic surgery, hernia repair surgery, gallbladder stone treatment, intestinal surgery, piles treatment, fistula treatment and many more aspects of general surgery.

With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Kintu has treated countless children across the city and country. She completed her higher medical training in the United Kingdom, and is a specialist in early years nutrition for children as well as nutrition for nursing mothers. Dr. Kintu also runs a well baby clinic and immunisation centre.

Dr Kauromal M. Chandiramani obtained his medical degree from Sind (now Pakistan) during British rule in India in 1923. He migrated to India pre-partition and practiced as a government doctor until 1957. After his formal retirement, he continued to practice as a physician in Bombay, working to serve the underprivileged and non-affording subset of patients. In total, he practiced for 75 years 198 days from 22 September 1923–9 May 1999, to the age of 100.
Alim arrived in Bombay in June 1947 as a 16-year-old refugee on a steamer from Karachi Sindh. After having spent a week at Bombay railway station, he located his relatives at a refugee camp in Baroda. Dr. Alim was very focused on academics and obtained a sponsorship to complete his inter-science degree from Fergusson college Pune. Following this, he secured admission to Grant Medical College and J.J. Group of Hospital, Mumbai. He completed his M.B.B.S in 1954 and MS. in 1959. He ran a successful surgical practice in Bandra for over half a century and was also attached to Hinduja Hospital for 37 years (1960 to 1997). Dr. Alim is a keen tennis player and a was a tennis champion of his college and his club.
Dr. Devi migrated to India from Sindh in Pakistan in September 1947. She passed her basic medical qualification from Christian Medical College Ludhiana following which she worked at mission hospital in Ambala. She went to complete her M.B.B.S from Calcutta and returned to Punjab where she was running a small government hospital with a fully equipped operation theater under UNESCO sponsorship. After her marriage to Dr. Alim in 1959, she completed her diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics and family planning. She ran a very successful obstetrics practice in Bandra at Devi Maternity and Surgical Hospital where thousands of babies across several generations were born under her supervision.
